PRIVACY AND DATA POLICY
Written for where the platform actually is today, not where we intend it to be. Where a protection is designed but not yet in place, this page says so.
Last updated 29 July 2026 · UnityZM Technologies, Lusaka, Zambia
These pages (brief.unityzm.co) are a briefing site. They are separate from the
UnityZM platform and hold no customer records.
| WHAT | WHY | KEPT |
|---|---|---|
| Page views | To know whether a briefing we sent was opened, and which documents were taken | Path, timestamp, browser string |
| A one-way address hash | To count distinct readers without storing anyone's address | Salted, irreversible, never the address itself |
| Suggestions you submit | To improve the briefing. Only if you choose to write one | Your text, and a name and email only if you supply them |
| A sign-in cookie | Only for the site author's own administration pages | Not set for ordinary readers |
DNT: 1 or Sec-GPC: 1, your visit is counted but no address hash is
stored, so you cannot be grouped into a returning reader. Obvious bots are excluded from
the counts entirely.Comments you submit are private to the site author. They are not published on the page and not shown to other readers.
Different rules apply to the UnityZM platform itself, because it handles identity, money and tax on behalf of businesses and the people who trade with them.
Your data belongs to you. We hold it to run the service you asked for, and for as long as the law requires records of it to exist.
| CATEGORY | EXAMPLES | WHY WE HAVE IT |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | Name, national ID or passport, phone, address, verification documents | Legal obligation. Know-your-customer rules apply to regulated financial activity |
| Financial | Wallet balances, transfers, escrow, settlements, invoices | To perform the service, and because a ledger must be complete to be correct |
| Trading | Orders, stock, deliveries, proof of delivery, pricing | To run the operation the tenant configured |
| Location | Vehicle position for a consignment in transit | To track a delivery the customer is expecting |
| Tax | Invoices, filings, obligations | Legal obligation to the revenue authority |
| Audit | Who did what, when, and what they were permitted to do | Legal obligation, and the basis of dispute resolution |
The platform uses AI models to do work like reconciliation, document reading and exception triage. No real identifier reaches a model. Names, phone numbers and identity numbers are replaced with stable pseudonyms before anything is sent, and restored afterwards. A model can follow the same actor across events without ever learning who they are, and the table that maps pseudonyms back to people never leaves our infrastructure.
Your data is not used to train anybody's model. Agents propose; a human approves anything consequential.
Data is currently hosted on infrastructure we control, rented from a European provider with the servers physically located in Canada. We are candid about this because it matters: our stated intention is sovereign hosting closer to the people we serve, and moving is active work rather than a vague plan.
Where a customer requires a specific residency undertaking, we agree it in the contract and configure it, rather than assuring it in general terms.

A privacy policy that only lists strengths is marketing. These are the gaps as they stand today.
| GAP | STATUS |
|---|---|
| Sovereign hosting in the region we serve | Active work. Currently hosted in Canada |
| A managed key store rather than environment-held keys | Designed, not yet in place |
| Independent security audit and penetration test | Not yet commissioned |
| Formal certification, for example ISO 27001 | Not held. We will not imply otherwise |
| A self-service data-export button | Requests are handled by hand today |
| A published breach-notification runbook | Drafted, not published |
If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the relevant authority promptly, with what we know and what we are doing. We would rather commit to that in writing than discover the wording under pressure.
UnityZM Technologies is a Zambian company. This policy is written against Zambian data protection law and the obligations that apply to financial and tax record-keeping, and is drafted to be compatible with international expectations where a customer requires it.
